September 12, 2018

Jerold G. Oldroyd, Senior Counsel at Ballard Spahr, was honored today with the 2018 Thayne Robson Award for Leadership in Economic Development from the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUtah).

Each year, the EDCUtah awards committee recognizes two individuals for their impact and contributions to economic development in Utah in both the private and public sectors. The recipient of Thayne Robson Award embodies Mr. Robson’s legacy as a business researcher and professor at the University of Utah, through excellence in economic development, cooperation, collaboration, statewide vision, private sector leadership, and public-private-partnerships.

Mr. Oldroyd encapsulates Mr. Robson's legacy that includes a long history of fostering economic development in Utah. In October 1999, Mr. Oldroyd was appointed by Governor Michael O. Leavitt to the Board of Business and Economic Development, which helps to recruit businesses to the state of Utah and assists Utah businesses in their plans for expansion. After nearly two decades on the Board, during which great economic growth has been experienced throughout Utah, Mr. Oldroyd now serves as Chair.

"We are exceedingly proud of Jerry's work in nurturing economic development in our state," said Salt Lake City Office Managing Partner Mark R. Gaylord.
