Join Ballard Spahr attorney Chris Willis and Teddy Flo, General Counsel of Zest AI, as they discuss cutting-edge fair lending issues related to AI/machine learning models, including regulatory interest and new technologies that may offer a way to objectively prove the fairness of such models. They will also go over a newly-developed potential alternative to the Bayesian Improved Surname Geocoding (BISG) method for proxying for race and ethnicity in fair lending reviews. Our discussion will include:

  • Update on fair lending enforcement activity and regulatory interest in AI/machine learning credit models
  • Introduction to adversarial debiasing as a technique to establish fairness of models
  • Challenges with BISG
  • A potential BISG replacement
