Georgia Extends Income Tax Deadlines to Align With IRS

March 25, 2020

The Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) extended tax filing and payment deadlines for Georgia income taxes due on April 15, 2020, which makes Georgia another state to conform with the federal tax filing and payment extensions. (See DOR FAQs here). The due date for Georgia estimated income tax payments that would be due on April 15, 2020 also was extended to July 15, 2020. More guidance is expected in coming days.

Georgia did not provide extensions for the filing, payment, or deposit of any other type of state tax (including employee withholding and sales tax) or for the filing of any state information returns.

We will continue to monitor Georgia state tax developments. If you have questions, please contact a member of the Ballard Spahr LLP Tax Group.
