Before the November elections, both Roy Herrera and Joe Kanefield, attorneys in Ballard Spahr's Phoenix office, predicted there would be a shift towards the left side of the political spectrum. Mr. Herrera expected that Arizona would transition from a red state to take on a purplish stance and that in the next presidential election in 2020, Mr. Herrera predicts that Arizona will be a swing state.

Mr. Kanefield noted that Arizona Democrats are more energized than they have been in the past, with a huge increase in voter turnout. He says, "If [Democrats] can keep up this energy and enthusiasm they may very well continue with these results [in 2020]."

Mr. Herrera and Mr. Kanefield agree that both parties need to make Arizona a priority in 2020. This year, 2.4 million Arizonans registered to vote.
