Shortly after the 2016 election, the Pennsylvania Attorney General, Josh Shapiro, in order to expand his office’s capacity to bring complex cases against financial companies, appointed Mr. Smyth, a former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau enforcement attorney, to lead a newly created Consumer Financial Protection Unit. Almost overnight, Messrs. Shapiro and Smyth transformed the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office into one of the most active attorneys general offices in the country. During this webinar, we will hear from Mr. Smyth about the creation and priorities of the Unit. This will include a focus on:

• Credit reporting agencies
• Force-placed collateral protection insurance in auto finance
• Tribal and other out-of-state payday and auto title lending
• Student loan servicing
• Mortgage redlining
