Eric K. Temmel is a health law regulatory and transactional associate in Ballard Spahr’s Health Care Practice Group.
Eric counsels corporate entities regarding formation, operations and transactions, with a particular focus on compliance with laws specific to the healthcare industry. These include referral, kickback and fee splitting prohibitions, requirements related to corporate telehealth/telemedicine infrastructure and the corporate practice of medicine doctrine. Eric drafts and reviews agreements related to acquisitions, affiliations, health data, professional services, administrative services and provider reimbursement.
- Advises entities including physician groups, universities and software startups related to the establishment of national telehealth programs and multistate expansion.
- Counsels entities offering medical, health, wellness, financial or related software services regarding HIPAA applicability, compliance and related agreements.
- Advises Pennsylvania and New Jersey entities related to asset sales, asset transfers and mergers, as well as related government approval processes.
- Assists hospitals, health systems and other licensed facilities with acquisitions, affiliations or other compensation arrangements related to licensed healthcare professionals.
