Peter V. Michaud is Chair-Elect of the firm, the immediate past Chair of the Business and Transactions Department, and serves as a member of the firm's Expanded Board. He is a private equity and M&A lawyer who serves as lead counsel to private equity funds and their portfolio companies as well as strategic buyers in connection with stock and asset acquisitions and divestitures, mergers, recapitalizations, spin-offs, roll-ups, and other forms of sales and reorganizations.
His representation of clients in acquisition and divestiture matters also involves senior finance, mezzanine, and other subordinated lender transactions. Peter also provides ongoing legal services to companies on a variety of business matters ranging from contract review and negotiation, strategic initiatives and joint ventures, and other matters affecting day-to-day operations of a business.
In his transactional practice, Peter also provides assistance to his clients on federal and international antitrust matters related to the acquisition or divestiture of a company or division, including filings required under U.S. Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.

- Ongoing representation of one of the country's largest publicly-traded food distribution service companies including a series of over twenty acquisitions throughout the United States.
- Represented a Chicago-based private equity firm in a series of acquisitions (and ongoing ownership) of metal fabrication companies.
- Represented a Denver-based private equity firm in a series of roll-up acquisitions (and subsequent divestitures) of medical and health products suppliers.
