The Bond Buyer Names Stephanie Kim a 'Rising Star' in the Municipal Bond Industry

Stephanie S. Kim, a public finance attorney in Ballard Spahr’s Washington, D.C., office, has been named a Rising Star in the municipal bond industry by The Bond Buyer.

Ms. Kim and a highly select group of fellow honorees are featured in a September 13 special issue of The Bond Buyer, a venerated bond industry news and information resource.

The Bond Buyer’s Rising Stars program recognizes municipal finance professionals under the age of 40 who have made positive contributions to their community while demonstrating exceptional leadership, excellent collaboration skills, innovation, and creativity in their roles.

“Stephanie is the complete package of a municipal bond lawyer,” said Randall J. Towers, co-leader of Ballard Spahr’s Project Finance practice. “She is smart, hardworking, creative, and engaging. Stephanie is an effective negotiator who instills confidence and earns the respect of clients.”

Ms. Kim is a member of the firm’s national Finance Department and Public Finance Group. She regularly serves as bond counsel, lender’s counsel, underwriter’s counsel, borrower’s counsel, and trustee’s counsel for a variety of municipal bond financings. Her work includes general obligation, revenue, conduit, solid waste, bioenergy, manufacturing, health care, and educational facility bond transactions. She has served as bond counsel and underwriter’s counsel for numerous tax-exempt bond issues for higher education institutions. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Ms. Kim is fluent in Korean and has worked on numerous bond transactions for major South Korean companies for significant investments in the United States to create jobs and economic opportunities.
