U.S. Supreme Court Asked to Curtail Officers' Immunity in Denver Police Case

First Amendment and civil rights advocates across the country are closely watching a case in which a man has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to place "guardrails" on the concept of qualified immunity so that his case against Denver police officers can go forward. The man claims he was retaliated against for recording an incident of alleged police brutality. The suit was dismissed against the officers even though they admittedly had been trained that bystanders have a First Amendment right to record the police in action.

Ashley Kissinger, who is not involved in the matter, spoke to Colorado Politics about the implications of the lawsuit.
