Maggie Tatton is the co-leader of Ballard Spahr’s Mergers & Acquisitions group. She focuses her practice on representing private and public companies and private equity funds in mergers, acquisitions, sales and other strategic business transactions, including joint ventures, minority investments, roll-ups and carve-out transactions. Maggie efficiently manages all aspects of a transaction with a practical, solutions-oriented approach. She has experience closing transactions in a wide array of industries, including personal services, manufacturing, food distribution, personal products, specialty retail, and engineering.

She also represents management teams making minority investments alongside institutional investors, and she provides assistance to startup entrepreneurs and rapidly growing companies in the areas of entity formation, general corporate services, and fundraising.

In February 2015, Maggie summited Mount Kilimanjaro, and in July 21, 2018, she summited Mount Rainier.

  • Ongoing representation of a leading publicly-held food distribution company in purchasing multiple food distribution companies across the United States
  • Ongoing representation of a large publicly-held manufacturing company in purchasing multiple manufacturing companies across the United States and divesting under-performing business lines
  • Represented a local private equity fund in the acquisition of a supplier of private label and branded health and beauty and household products and the subsequent divestiture of certain product lines
  • Represented a national provider of communications solutions in the acquisition of a regional, closely held communications solutions provider
  • Represented a Chicago-based private equity fund in acquiring and integrating two separate businesses that provide metal manufacturing processes
  • Represented a local private equity fund in acquiring and combining two unrelated environmental services companies and represented the combined company in acquiring and amending its debt financing
  • Represented a local private equity fund in acquiring and combining three businesses that specialize in collectible coins, fine jewelry, and watches
  • Represented a leading private equity fund in the divestiture of an international environmental consulting firm to a buyer based in London
  • Represented a startup medical device manufacturer in conducting two separate private placements and negotiating the relationships necessary to take its products to market
  • Represented a medical device manufacturer in the spin-off of a part of its business to its shareholders and the sale of its remaining business to a public company
  • Represented the members of a Minnesota-based financial planning and advisory services firm in the sale of their interest to a leading private equity fund
