Michele J. Rowland is an experienced corporate attorney, having closed more than $1 billion in M&A and financing transactions in the last year. Michele represents large- and middle-market companies, private equity funds, private fund investors, and fund portfolio companies in connection with their acquisitions and divestitures, senior and mezzanine financings, mergers, equity financings, private placements, limited partner investments in private funds, and general corporate matters.

Michele is a member of the firm's Strategic Planning Committee.

  • Represents a national mortgage loan servicer in connection with a significant equity purchase transaction
  • Represents Linc Energy, an Australian coal, oil, and gas company with U.S. operations headquartered in Denver, in connection with its acquisition activities and corporate matters
  • Represents MTM Technologies, the nation's largest IT services company headquartered in Stamford, in connection with its going-dark transaction, debt financings, and its corporate matters
  • Represents Color Spot Nurseries, the nation's largest plant nursery headquartered outside of San Diego, in connection with its acquisitions, debt financings, private placements, and strategic corporate matters
  • Represents U.S. Nursing, a large medical staffing provider headquartered outside of Denver, in connection with its debt financings, employment matters, and corporate matters
  • Represents Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping, the nation's largest concrete pumping company headquartered in Denver, in connection with a strategic sale of the company, its debt and equity restructuring, debt financings, employment matters and corporate matters
  • Represents Birko Corporation, a major supplier of food processing plant cleaning components headquartered in Colorado, in connection with its recapitalization and restructuring
  • Represented Feedback Sports, a provider of high-quality bicycle repair equipment, in connection with its acquisition strategy
  • Represents Boulder Housing Partners, an affordable-housing agency, in connection with its general business concerns and project financing
  • Represented Colorado Fire and Police Pension Association in connection with its limited partner investments in private equity funds
  • Represented Callison Architecture, a major national architectural firm headquartered in Seattle, in connection with a sale of the company and a major debt financing
  • Represented WildBlue Communications, a satellite ISP company headquartered in Denver, in connection with multiple complex financings, recapitalizations, and strategic corporate matters
  • Represented Starcom Holdings, an electrical contractor located in Boston, in connection with its financings, recapitalizations, and board matters
  • Represented Aboca, an international herbal supplement manufacturer, in connection with its U.S. distribution channels

Michele works with or has worked with prominent private equity funds and investors involved in her transactions, including Black Diamond Capital Management (New York and Chicago), GSC Group (New York), Clarion Capital Partners (New York), Cheyenne Equity Partners (Denver), FirstMark Capital (New York), American Capital Strategies (Chicago), Blue Point Capital Partners (Chicago), Pritzker Group (Chicago), Kohlberg & Co. (New York), Berkshire Partners (New York), and Apollo Management (New York).

Michele has been recognized by The Denver Business Journal as a leader in the Denver business community and as one of the top 10 female lawyers in Colorado in 2011, and is active on charitable and community boards. She is a member of Ballard Spahr's M&A group recognized by The Legal 500 in the M&A: middle-market (sub-$500m) category.

Prior to relocating to Denver, Michele worked at the NASDAQ Stock Market in New York City.
