Heath Oberloh excels in business and estate planning for a wide range of clients, with a particular focus on succession issues for family-owned businesses and farms. He has worked with clients to develop plans that achieve their identified goals, and then ensures all pieces of the plan are implemented efficiently.

Heath also works with families seeking to take advantage of South Dakota's favorable trust laws. He explains the many benefits of South Dakota trust situs and works with the family to craft and execute a plan that will accomplish its goals.

Heath is active in the Sioux Falls Estate Planning Council and Business Law Committee of the South Dakota State Bar, where he helped draft legislation to update South Dakota's limited liability company statutes.

Representative Matters

  • Handled the reorganization of the ownership of several wineries and an investment in the winery
  • Handled purchase of lakeside campground property and formation of nonprofit entity to purchase the property and operate camps for children there
  • Moved a family of existing trusts to South Dakota
  • Established long-term trusts for South Dakota ranchers to insure the family will be able to continue to graze the land
