Vincent J. Marriott III


Vincent J. Marriott III is the Practice Leader of Ballard Spahr's Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group. Vince has led teams of Ballard Spahr attorneys assisting in the representation of major bondholders in the Chapter 9 bankruptcy proceedings of Detroit and San Bernardino.

Vince also is experienced in representing corporate and other types of commercial businesses, financial institutions and trade creditors, and acquirers of distressed assets in the areas of corporate finance, workouts and reorganizations, recapitalizations, and asset purchases and sales, both inside and outside of insolvency proceedings. Vince has extensive experience representing secured lenders, trade creditors and creditors' committees in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Representation of a Chapter 11 trustee in the successful liquidation of a real estate holding company, resolution of fraudulent transfer and other litigation, and confirmation of a liquidating plan
  • Representation of an indenture trustee as a member of the creditors' committee in a major chemical company bankruptcy
  • Representation of the stalking horse bidder in the acquisition of a distressed continuing-care retirement community
