Justin W. Lamson is an antitrust and complex commercial litigation attorney with jury trial, appellate, class action, and international arbitration experience. Justin has represented clients in the pharmaceutical, payment card, and mortgage lending industries in matters involving a wide range of claims, including exclusive dealing, monopolization, trade secret misappropriation, and unfair competition. Justin also has provided clients antitrust compliance counseling in a variety of scenarios.

Representative Matters

  • In re Liquid Aluminum Sulfate Antitrust Litigation, (D.N.J.) (in progress) Representing multiple municipalities and water utilities as plaintiffs in multidistrict antitrust litigation claiming that defendants engaged in anticompetitive conduct in connection with the sale of aluminum sulfate, a water treatment chemical
  • International Cards Co. v. MasterCard International Inc., 2017 WL 1133425 (S.D.N.Y 2017) (in progress) Successfully moved for summary judgment against claim that MasterCard had breached the parties' contract by terminating plaintiff's MasterCard membership. The parties tried to a jury plaintiff’s claim for return of collateral, and MasterCard’s counterclaims.
  • Eisai, Inc. v. Sanofi-Aventis US, LLC, 821 F.3d 394 (3d Cir. 2016) Represented on appeal plaintiff Eisai in antitrust case concerning injectable anticoagulant drugs after the District Court had granted summary judgment against its claims
  • ZF Meritor, LLC v. Eaton Corp., 696 F.3d 254 (3d Cir. 2012) Obtained a $500 million settlement for plaintiffs after the Third Circuit upheld jury finding of liability in an antitrust case involving anticompetitive conduct in the sale of heavy-duty truck transmissions
  • Represented plaintiffs in a three-week International Chamber of Commerce arbitration hearing involving breach of a pharmaceutical licensing agreement. Member of team defending shipping companies in antitrust class actions in New Jersey federal court involving allegations of price-fixing.
  • Represented one of the world's largest systems integrators in a False Claims Act lawsuit alleging anticompetitive activity and kickbacks
  • Successfully defended a mortgage lender in a putative class action alleging discriminatory pricing policies in violation of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Fair Housing Act

Pro Bono Experience

Justin's pro bono work includes representing a father seeking unpaid child support and custody under a Florida placement order. After suit was brought in New York to enforce placement order, the case settled with an order of custody support in favor of the father. Justin also participates in Ballard Spahr's Wills for Heroes program and the Clemency Project team, which was awarded the 2015 Alan J. Davis award for exemplary public service.
