David Karasko has more than a decade of experience as a tax attorney, with the past four years focused on tax-exempt organizations. David represents universities, health systems, hospitals, international relief organizations, and other publicly supported charities and private foundations on tax and governance issues. David advises clients on formation, obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status, board governance practices, federal tax law compliance, cause-related marketing and other charitable solicitation issues, unrelated business income, and general operations. Prior to his focus on tax-exempt organizations, David also advised clients on general corporate tax matters, tax planning for mergers and acquisitions, and the taxation of mutual funds and other pooled investment vehicles.
David is a former member of the Tax Council of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Before practicing law, he worked for several years as an economic analyst at a consulting firm in Washington, D.C.
