Ashley Haun represents clients in connection with the creation and operation of residential and mixed-use community associations in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

Ashley also advises clients on the acquisition and disposition of assets through all phases of a transaction, including the drafting and negotiating of purchase and sale agreements, entity formation, drafting and negotiating of joint venture agreements, completion of due diligence, closing, and leasing. She provides assistance on local law compliance in the District of Columbia and Maryland, with a specific focus on the District of Columbia's Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) and rights of first refusal in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Ashley also is a seasoned litigator, having served as both general and litigation counsel for real estate developers and investors regarding commercial landlord-tenant disputes, zoning concerns, management disputes, and purchase rights for high value properties in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a leading real estate developer in the creation of ultra-luxury mixed-use condominium projects in Bethesda, Maryland
  • Represented a leading real estate investment and management company in the conversion and development of an office building into a luxury mixed-use condominium in the District of Columbia
  • Represented a multifamily real estate company in the acquisition, financing, and closing of a $43 million student housing facility in Maryland and a $30 million student housing facility in South Carolina
  • Represented a leading multifamily real estate investor in the $72 million purchase of a Class A mixed-use complex located in Ashburn, Virginia
  • Represented institutional investors in the recovery of over 2,000 acres of land in New Kent County, Virginia, in connection with an $85 million bond issuance
  • Co-chaired successful six day jury trial of complex condominium management claims in the District of Columbia Superior Court
  • Co-chaired successful six day bench trial of first purchase rights in connection with a commercial tenancy dispute in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia

Pro Bono Experience

Ashley frequently serves as a Volunteer Attorney for clinical programs hosted by the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center, including the Probate Resource Center, Advice and Referral Clinic, and Landlord-Tenant Resource Center.
