Jim Hannon is a registered patent attorney who practices in the areas of patent prosecution and counseling, IP evaluation, licensing and litigation.

Jim has obtained or assisted in the procurement and management of hundreds of U.S. and foreign patents, the majority of which are in the fields of: consumer products; manual and electric hand tools; aerospace and satellite systems; LED, OLED, and general lighting; wiring devices and systems; control systems; mass notification systems; oilfield drilling and services; financial services; computer software and systems; and communication technologies.

Jim also handles IP evaluations for financial services companies to assist in lending and M&A transactions. His work includes patentability searching, patent application preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate, infringement and invalidity analysis, patent reexaminations, patent portfolio management, and patent assertion and licensing for several Fortune 500 companies. He has also assisted numerous clients with acquisitions and divestitures related to intellectual property involving due diligence for intellectual property assets and information technologies, including open source-licensed software and significant patent and trademark portfolios.
