Ben Guthorn is a transactional attorney in the firm’s Finance Department focusing in the areas of public finance and affordable housing development. He represents state and local governments, conduit issuers, underwriters and trustees in tax-exempt and taxable bond transactions, including general obligation issuances, tax-exempt private activity bonds, and workouts. In addition, Ben represents housing authorities in complex affordable housing development transactions involving low-income housing tax credits, private financing, project-based vouchers (PBV), bond financing, and public housing funds.

Pro Bono Experience

Ben maintains a robust pro bono practice. He regularly serves as pro bono counsel taking cases from organizations that focus on the delivery of civil legal services that help to strengthen neighborhoods, support the nonprofit sector, and provide counsel to those individuals without easy access to life-improving legal services. Example organizations include the Maryland Pro Bono Resource Center, the Community Law Center, and FreeState Justice.
