David J. Fernandez represents clients in capital markets, securities, leveraged finance, and both tax-exempt and taxable bond financing transactions. He has served as bond, borrowers, disclosure, underwriter’s, and trustee counsel on a diverse range of tax-exempt mutual bond transactions, including those involving civic facility revenue bonds, industrial development bonds, water and sewer bonds, housing and transportation bonds, and hospital and health care revenue bonds.

Before entering private practice , David served as Senior Assistant General Counsel for the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, one of the nation’s leading issuers of tax-exempt debt.

Representative Matters

David has served as a member of the legal financing team for:

  • A member of the Ballard financing team for legal services for the Battery Park City Authority
  • The municipal tax-exempt financing team for the New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority
  • The municipal tax-exempt financing team for multiple on-going financings for the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York
  • The municipal tax-exempt financing team for multiple on-going financings for the New York State Housing Finance Agency
  • The financing teams for various Charter School, healthcare/hospital and multi-family housing financings nationally

David has served as a member of the legal financing teams for nationally recognized financings, including:

  • The municipal tax-exempt financing for new stadiums and arenas for the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Brooklyn Nets, Minnesota Twins, New York Giants, and New York Jets
  • The first Liberty Bond financing in New York City for the Bank of America Tower
  • Military housing projects for the U.S. Army in Fort Benning, GA; Fort Drum, NY; and Seoul, Korea
  • The Liberty Bond financing in the One, Two, Three, Four, and Seven World Trade Center
