Carol A. DiPrinzio devotes her practice to complex commercial litigation with a particular focus on consumer finance, defending claims and defenses brought by consumers in the areas of federal and state consumer protection laws and mortgage banking.

Carol regularly represents clients in cases involving claims and defenses under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Pennsylvania’s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law (UTPCPL), as well as various other state and federal laws.  In addition, Carol routinely handles commercial litigation involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and professional negligence claims.

Before joining Ballard Spahr, Carol represented lenders in contested foreclosure actions, gaining substantial trial-level experience in mortgage banking litigation.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained dismissals with prejudice of claims asserted by borrowers against lenders under RESPA, UTPCPL, among other federal and state statutes.
  • Obtained favorable and early settlements on behalf of lenders in contested residential foreclosures.
  • Secured a favorable settlement on behalf of a lender in an action by an auto repair company for the cost of repair and storage of an abandoned car.

Pro Bono Experience

Carol maintains an active pro bono practice, participating in the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) to assist refugees in navigating the complicated legal process of obtaining formal refugee status and resettlement.
