Erin M. Carter assists clients in a variety of environmental litigation matters and provides counsel on regulatory and transactional matters. Erin has represented clients in complex environmental litigation, with an emphasis on Superfund cost recovery and contribution actions. She also assists clients in the management of environmental risks associated with acquisitions and divestitures. Erin advises clients on permitting and regulatory matters, including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), California's Prop 65, and emerging matters related to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

While attending law school, Erin served in internships with both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Environmental and Natural Resources Division of the Justice Department, where she interpreted statutory and regulatory provisions regarding environmental issues related to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, TSCA, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, RCRA, and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.

Pro Bono Experience

Erin serves as pro bono counsel through Philadelphia VIP, which provides indigent individuals with equal access to the legal system in civil matters. As a law student, she completed 75 hours of environmental pro bono work.
