Taylor R. Gess focuses on providing regulatory advice on matters related to federal and state consumer protection and consumer finance laws.

She provides counsel to a broad spectrum of clients, including credit card issuers, online lending platforms, solar and home improvement finance companies, banks, Fintech companies, and retail merchants on matters involving the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). She also advises on issues related to payment network rules, telemarketing, unfair or deceptive acts and practices (UDAP), retail installment sales, and military lending along with helping clients develop Compliance Management Systems, review marketing materials, and structure new initiatives.

Pro Bono Experience

Taylor maintains an active pro bono practice. She helps consumers understand credit reports, checking and savings accounts, and prepaid cards through her work with Prepare + Prosper, a nonprofit dedicated to providing low to moderate-income people with free access to quality tax preparation and financial services. She also assisted a client on a naturalization application.
