Christopher E. Byer is an associate in the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on complex corporate and commercial litigation in both federal and state courts, and privacy and data security. Chris’ experience includes drafting discovery requests and responses, drafting various privacy-related policies, drafting complaints, preparing witnesses to give testimony, arguing at hearings to secure civil restraining orders, and briefing dispositive motions.

While in law school, Chris served an internship at the University of Virginia Health System and at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he researched health care regulations, analyzed information on drug manufacturers, and drafted memoranda on proposed global pharmaceutical regulations.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully argued for a permanent restraining order preventing members of a local hate organization from accessing the client’s residence and workplace;
  • Represented clients in lawsuits involving allegations of breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, and conspiracy;
  • Negotiated a favorable settlement for a lender in a dispute involving the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
