Ballard Spahr's Client Value and Innovation Team Launches Ballard360 Insider Blog

October 22, 2019

Ballard Spahr's Client Value and Innovation team is launching Ballard360 Insider—a blog that will cover the latest developments and best practices for clients, attorneys, and other professionals in the legal operations and innovation space.

Clients increasingly expect law firms to leverage legal operations and technology to provide high-quality legal services with greater efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and transparency. Ballard360 Insider will explore how changes in legal operations—such as the use of artificial intelligence and technology-enabled matter management—can meet this demand. The blog will examine trends in pricing, analyze the effectiveness of new strategies and technologies, identify opportunities for advancing innovation, and provide a forum for discussion.

"Ballard360 Insider is a great resource providing useful information to help our clients succeed," said John G. Kerkorian, Ballard Spahr's Strategic Planning Partner and member of the firm's Executive Team. "At Ballard Spahr, we work with our clients as business partners, so added value and optimal efficiency are just as high a priority for us as they are for our clients. In a business environment where change seems to be the only constant, Ballard360 Insider, the latest addition to our Ballard360 platform, will help us move forward effectively together."

Ballard Spahr has invested significantly in its Client Value and Innovation Program, which offers value-based pricing, matter management, and technology solutions tailored to meet specific client needs. The team—comprising more than 20 professionals—developed customized technology, Ballard360, which allows clients to quickly and easily review information on the status and cost of their matters; produce forms of exceptional quality through automation technology; and advance matter management efficiencies to a new level. The team has been nationally recognized by the Financial Times and BTI's Legal Innovation and Technology Outlook Report, which ranked Ballard Spahr as among the country’s most innovative law firms based on its strategic use of technology, its focus on emerging areas of practice, and its innovative approach to client issues.

"Client service can’t be just a buzzword; it has to mean something," said Melissa Prince, Ballard Spahr's Chief Client Value and Innovation Officer. "We spent time listening to clients and took a hard look at how we could improve our processes and our value-added service offerings. Five years ago, my team didn’t exist—today, it is indispensable. We made institutional changes and developed proprietary technology. Clients took notice and the drive to continuously improve became our passion."
