Dark Web and Virtual Currencies

Margie Peerce, a New York-based partner who leads Ballard Spahr's Virtual Currency Team, will participate in a panel discussion providing a comprehensive overview of:

• Foundations
• Evolution
• The legal context of cryptocurrency- and blockchain-based technologies and markets

Included in the presentation will be a discussion of how virtual currencies are used in dark marketplace transactions as well as how cryptocurrencies and blockchain-based technologies are increasingly used in mainstream markets and financial products. The panel also will discuss the current legal landscape and challenges, from both the law enforcement and regulatory perspectives.
