Matthew N. McClure

The new Philadelphia Lobbying Ordinance became effective on January 3, 2012. Lawyers and their non-lawyer clients, especially real estate lawyers and their developer clients, are in frequent contact with City employees, officials, and elected officials. Under the new lobbying law:

  • What activities are defined as lobbying?
  • Who needs to register as a lobbyist?
  • What are the exceptions to registration?
  • How does a lawyer comply with the lobbying law and the professional rules of conduct?
  • What are the prohibited activities for non-lawyers?
  • When is registration required and what are the reporting requirements?

Participants will learn about the basics of the new lobbying law and how it will be administered. Partner Matthew N. McClure, along with a panel of other practitioners, will discuss the exceptions to the law and how the law will affect their day-to-day dealings with the City of Philadelphia.
