October 26, 2020

Nine Ballard Spahr lawyers have been recognized in 2020 for excellence in their practices by Managing Intellectual Property magazine.

Seven Ballard Spahr lawyers have been ranked as IP Stars. They are Atlanta-based Partners Lawrence K. Nodine and Mitchell A. Katz; Philadelphia-based Partners Robert R. Baron, Jr. and Hara K. Jacobs; New York-based Partners Dr. Kenneth H. Sonnenfeld and Dr. Margaret Bolce Brivanlou; and Los Angeles-based Senior Counsel Louis P. Petrich.

Partner Joseph P. Anderson III was named a Notable Practitioner and Associate Chittam U. Thakore was ranked as a Rising Star. Both are based in the firm’s Atlanta office. Ballard Spahr’s intellectual property practices in its Atlanta and Philadelphia offices were also recognized in the rankings.

Rankings are published annually and based on a weighted review of information submitted by firms, publicly available information, and market feedback. Research analysts from Managing IP evaluate information from thousands of firms, IP practitioners and their clients through interviews, emails, and online surveys. They also conduct their own independent research, including an analysis of publicly available information.

Ballard Spahr’s Intellectual Property Department has more than 50 professionals—including nearly two dozen registered patent practitioners. Its trial lawyers represent IP owners and accused infringers in courts throughout the country, in national and international arbitration proceedings, and before the Patent and Trial Board of the U.S. Patent and Trial Office. The firm has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report-Best Lawyers for its copyright, trademark, patent, and intellectual property litigation work.
