Ballard Spahr's Consumer Financial Services Group Shortlisted for a Chambers USA "Firm of the Year" Award

June 4, 2019

Ballard Spahr has been shortlisted for a Chambers USA Firm of the Year award in the Financial Services Regulation category. Winners will be announced at a reception in New York on June 19.

The awards, which are based on the organization's research for the 2019 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, reflect nominees' success and preeminence in key practice areas. They recognize exceptional achievement in client work and service and strategic growth over the past 12 months. The shortlist nominees were drawn from a list of about 30 firms ranked by Chambers USA in the area of Financial Services Regulation this year.

"We have an incredible team of lawyers that supports our national practice and serves clients across the country," said Alan S. Kaplinsky, who leads Ballard Spahr's Consumer Financial Services Group. "We are honored to be included on Chambers' shortlist this year."

This is not the first recognition for the Group. Since Chambers USA began ranking American firms, Ballard Spahr has been consistently ranked nationally in Band One (one of only 3 firms in the country in 2019) in the category "Financial Services Regulation: Consumer Finance (Compliance and Litigation)." Law360 has named it a Banking Group of the Year. The Group boasts 11 fellows of the American College Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, two of whom have been awarded the College's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ballard Spahr's Consumer Financial Services Group has more than 110 attorneys across the country. Lawyers in the group represent clients ranging from global financial institutions to entrepreneurial enterprises and internet-based providers. They advise on regulatory matters, assist in the design and documentation of new products, and advocate for clients in class actions, regulatory enforcement proceedings, and other lawsuits nationwide. They also provide strategic counsel on large-scale commercial transactions involving payments systems, merchant acquiring, Fintech, outsourcing, and related business issues.
