Ballard Spahr Named 2018 Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year by Nevada Legal Services

November 2, 2018

The Las Vegas office of Ballard Spahr has been recognized as the 2018 Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year by Nevada Legal Services, the primary provider of legal assistance to underserved communities in Nevada.

"Pro bono service is an essential part of practicing law. It's a demonstration of a firm's commitment to the communities where we live and work," said Senior Counsel Bill Curran, who leads the office's Pro Bono Committee. "Our attorneys have diverse interests and they believe wholeheartedly in donating their time and talent to increasing access to justice."

As a signatory to the American Bar Association's Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge, Ballard Spahr is committed to donating 3 percent of its billable hours to pro bono service—more than 43,000 hours each year.

Nevada Legal Services provides qualifying low-income Nevada residents with free legal help on civil matters, such as tax issues, Social Security matters, and veterans' benefit cases.

"The work undertaken by Nevada Legal Services every day improves our community in so many ways," said Las Vegas Office Managing Partner Robert C. Kim, a member of Ballard Spahr's Business and Finance Group. "It is our privilege to give back and to support an organization that helps so many."
