Katayun I. Jaffari, a partner in Ballard Spahr's Business and Finance Department, has been named among Philadelphia Business Journal's 2017 "Women of Distinction."

The annual listing spotlights the region's most influential businesswomen, spanning multiple industries and professions in both the corporate and nonprofit spheres. Honorees have made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for others, and left their mark on Philadelphia business.

Ms. Jaffari is a recognized thought leader and seasoned practitioner of corporate law, with concentrations in corporate governance and securities. For more than two decades, she has been a trusted adviser to public, private, and nonprofit companies, leading deals that have reached the multibillion-dollar range.

She is an active member of the greater Philadelphia legal and business community and has been recognized for her contributions to the legal profession throughout her career. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Ms. Jaffari uses her standing in the community, knowledge, and skills to lead and serve on many boards over years of service, including the Forum of Executive Women, Maternity Care Coalition, the Scleroderma Foundation, InterAct Theatre Company, the Committee of Seventy, and Support Center for Child Advocates—which recognized Ms. Jaffari in 2014 as a Distinguished Advocate for her years of service. She is also a Vice Chair of The School Mindfulness Project, an organization that strives to enhance the health and wellness of children in Philadelphia schools.

Last year, Ms. Jaffari was recognized by SmartCEO with the publication's Star Influencer Award. She has received the First Judicial District's Roll of Honor by the District's Pro Bono Committee for many years.
