Roger P. Thomasch, a partner in Ballard Spahr's Denver office and a longtime Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, was honored last week by the organization’s Colorado Chapter with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Thomasch, who previously served with distinction as the state chair of the Colorado Chapter, was selected unanimously by his esteemed peers.

The American College of Trial Lawyers is the leading trial lawyer organization in the country. Fellowship is extended by invitation only and membership can never exceed 1 percent of the total lawyer population in a state.

Mr. Thomasch is a past Chairman of Ballard Spahr's Litigation Department and served as the Managing Partner of the firm's Denver office for 27 years.

"I cannot imagine an award that recognizes trial skills for which Roger would not be the ideal candidate," firm Chair Mark Stewart said. "Roger is unquestionably the right person for this award. And his partners understand that what makes Roger the trial lawyer he is, is what also makes him a partner like no other: humility, compassion, commitment, and an innate ability to bring out the best in people. We are proud of him and grateful for him."

Mr. Thomasch—who is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished trial lawyers in the West—has tried to verdict virtually every type of business and commercial case during more than 40 years as a litigator. His clients include Fortune 100 companies and their directors and officers, financial institutions, and professional-services firms.

"Roger has been a well-respected member of the Denver legal community for many years, and guided our office through decades of successful growth," said Steven W. Suflas, Managing Partner of the firm's Denver office. "This honor recognizes Roger's tireless mentorship of other lawyers and the unparalleled civility that he always displayed to courts and adversaries. He is not only an accomplished lawyer—he is a trusted colleague, a role model, and a great friend."

Mr. Thomasch was selected Best Commercial Litigator for 2016 in Law Week Colorado's Barrister's Best survey. He has been ranked since 1987 by The Best Lawyers in America for bet-the-company litigation, banking and finance litigation, commercial litigation, M&A litigation, real estate litigation, and securities litigation; and since 2003 by Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business in the category of litigation: general commercial law with its highest ranking (band one). He also has been named by Super Lawyers as one of "Top 10 Colorado Lawyers" every year since 2006.
