Ballard Spahr has named Amy T. Shepherd—a legal marketing professional with more than 25 years of experience in business development, marketing, operations, and sales—to the position of Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today.

Ms. Shepherd has served as the firm’s Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development for the past five years. In her new position, she will oversee all business development, marketing, and communications efforts at Ballard Spahr, a national firm with more than 500 lawyers in 15 offices across the country. She also will provide tactical support and counsel to the firm's strategic planning, client value, and strategic account management programs.

“In addition to being smart, creative, and talented, Amy is already leading some of the most important business development initiatives at the firm,” Mr. Stewart said. “She knows the firm and the legal industry well, understands our goals, and has helped build our excellent marketing team. Amy has contributed significantly to Ballard’s success and we are proud to recognize her hard work as she steps into this expanded leadership role.”

Before joining the firm, Ms. Shepherd held senior marketing roles at Morgan Lewis and Dechert. At Ballard Spahr, she has worked with lawyers and firm management to create and implement firm-wide marketing and business development initiatives and enhance programs focused on client development, industry analysis, practice support, cross-selling, and performance tracking.

“Ballard is a terrific firm that is poised for strategic growth and is leveraging innovative, research-based business models to get there,” Ms. Shepherd said. “I’m excited to help drive the firm’s continued success as part of an incredibly talented and dedicated team that I enjoy personally and respect professionally.”
