Ballard Spahr and Litigation partner Shannon D. Farmer have been named winners of the 2013 International Law Office/Lexology Client Choice awards. Ms. Farmer was honored in Pennsylvania for her work in employment and labor, while the firm was recognized for excellence in client care and quality of service in Utah.

This year’s Client Choice award winners were chosen from more than 2,000 individual assessments received through a third-party readership survey of International Law Office and Lexology in-house counsel subscribers. Award nominations can be made only by corporate counsel. Survey participants were asked to rate partners and firms on the following criteria: quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, response time, sharing of expertise, and use of technology.

“Being responsive to clients’ needs and providing high-quality yet cost-effective service is a hallmark of Ballard Spahr, and something I strive to achieve every day in my labor and employment practice,” said Ms. Farmer. “I’m honored to be recognized with an award that is based on client satisfaction.”

Ms. Farmer represents public and private employers in labor and employment matters. She conducts collective bargaining negotiation and interest arbitrations, defends employers against civil rights, wage and hour, and other types of employment lawsuits, and advises and trains clients on employment policies and other human resources needs.

Ms. Farmer is recognized in the 2009 through 2012 editions of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, as a leader in the field of labor and employment law. In addition, she is listed in the 2012 and 2013 editions of The Best Lawyers in America for employment law.

“We appreciate Shannon’s hard work as a dedicated and effective labor and employment litigator,” said John B. Langel, Chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. “We’re thrilled that our clients have expressed their appreciation for the results she’s helped them achieve. We congratulate Shannon on being selected.”
