Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office is celebrating its 20th anniversary by partnering with the Parks & People Foundation for a neighborhood cleanup and improvement project this Friday in the historic Reservoir Hill neighborhood. Reservoir Hill is a designated "Healthy Neighborhood," one of 14 served by Healthy Neighborhoods, Inc., a Ballard Spahr nonprofit client. The project includes a day of tree planting, painting, and cleaning.

In addition, the Baltimore office has pledged to provide at least 2,000 hours of pro bono legal services in 2013, with virtually every lawyer and legal assistant committing to provide 20 or more hours of free legal work to qualified individuals and organizations. Since the office opened in 1992, Ballard Spahr attorneys have provided more than 30,000 hours of pro bono legal services to the community. The firm is well-known for its commitment to community service and pro bono, and 75 percent of the office’s attorneys serve on the boards of local nonprofit organizations.

“Baltimore is more than just our place of business; it’s our home,” said Jon Laria, Managing Partner of the firm’s Baltimore office. “We have a stake in our neighborhoods, the success of our region's businesses, and the quality of life for our residents. Service is a hallmark of the firm, and we have always been quick to answer the call to citizenship.”

The Baltimore attorneys serve corporate, institutional, and entrepreneurial clients in business law, commercial litigation, labor and employment, public and project finance, securities, and real estate. Ballard Spahr's attorneys also hold leadership positions in many local nonprofit organizations, including Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, Greater Baltimore Committee, Charles Street Development Corporation, Urban Land Institute, The Family Tree, Healthy Neighborhoods, Inc., Live Baltimore, CHAI, and the Southeast Community Development Corporation.
