Lila Shapiro-Cyr, a Real Estate partner in Ballard Spahr’s Baltimore office, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

The Committee is a nonprofit organization that provides pro bono services to people who have experienced racial discrimination. Its services include public policy advocacy, community legal education, community economic development, and assistance with other civil rights issues.

“It is an honor to be appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law,” said Ms. Shapiro-Cyr. “The Committee’s objective is to ensure equality for all by using the expertise of its board members, and I am pleased to offer my support and help victims to find justice.”

Ms. Shapiro-Cyr represents clients in real estate acquisitions, development, leasing, and financing. Her clients include owners, developers, and tenants of commercial real estate properties. Her practice focuses on shopping center and urban development. Ms. Shapiro-Cyr also represents many public housing authorities and other developers of affordable housing in ongoing redevelopment efforts.

Ms. Shapiro-Cyr serves on the Board of Harbor City Services, Inc.; Chesapeake Search Dogs; and Kol HaLev, a Reconstructionist Synagogue Community in Baltimore. She is also the Chair of the Real Property, Planning, and Zoning Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Shapiro-Cyr was named one of 2010’s Leading Women by The Daily Record, based on her professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to inspiring change.
