Ballard Spahr Chair Arthur Makadon today announced the addition of seven attorneys to the firm's partnership. The seven, who were elected in April, become partners effective today.

The new partners are drawn from six of the firm's 12 offices—Atlanta, Denver, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, and Wilmington. They represent the intellectual property, litigation, public finance, and real estate practices.

"This is an able and impressive group of lawyers whose commitment to clients and the firm is obvious to everyone who works with them," Mr. Makadon said. "We are pleased to have them as partners and expect that they will contribute greatly to Ballard's success in coming years."

Valarie J. Allen is a member of the Public Finance Department in Philadelphia. She advises issuers, underwriters, and borrowers in connection with the structuring, issuance, offering, placement, remarketing, and restructuring of tax-exempt and taxable municipal securities and other debt instruments and derivatives.

Sean J. Bellew is a member of the Litigation Department who is resident in the firm's Wilmington office. He serves as lead counsel on complex corporate and commercial litigation, representing Delaware corporations and corporations doing business in Delaware.

Louis L. Chodoff is a member of the Litigation Department and Labor and Employment Group in the New Jersey office. He focuses on counseling and litigation associated with harassment, discrimination, wage and hour, whistleblower, wrongful discharge, and restrictive covenant disputes.

Nicole C. Evans is a member of the Real Estate Department, resident in Salt Lake City. Her practice encompasses resort development, timesharing and other luxury real estate products, condominiums, planned community development, and community association matters.

D. Brian Shortell, Ph.D., is a member of the Intellectual Property Department, resident in the Atlanta office. He focuses on patent prosecution, client counseling and opinion work, and intellectual property litigation.

K. Allison White is a member of the Litigation Department in Denver. She advises clients on matters involving securities fraud, contract disputes, construction disputes, corporate governance, business torts, and accounting fraud.
