Brian M. Pinheiro, the partner in charge of Ballard Spahr’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice, has been named to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2010 "40 Under 40" list, which recognizes professional excellence and outstanding community involvement.

Mr. Pinheiro will be honored by the Philadelphia Business Journal during its annual awards banquet at the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel on May 18. The magazine praised those named to its "40 Under 40" list, calling them "dynamic up and comers who have shaped our community in ways that have made greater Philadelphia a better place to do business and live." Winners will be profiled in a special section of the May 8 issue.

Mr. Pinheiro advises public and private companies and nonprofit organizations nationwide on matters relating to the design, operation, tax, and fiduciary aspects of employee benefit plans and executive compensation programs. He is an adjunct professor at the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, is a frequent lecturer on benefits and compensation issues, and has been recognized for his work with Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program.

Mr. Pinheiro is a graduate of Boston College and The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law. He also holds an L.L.M. in tax law and a Certificate in Employee Benefits from the Georgetown University Law Center.
