Ballard Spahr's Distressed Real Estate Initiative was formed in early 2008 to address the changing marketplace and clients' evolving needs. The firm's nationally recognized Real Estate Department is a leader in distressed property transactions, real estate finance and loan workout and restructuring, FDIC portfolio and private equity transactions, and bankruptcy.

Initiative members will be featured at the Information Management Network's Forum on Distressed Commercial Real Estate on October 5 in New York City, iGlobal Forum's 3rd Real Estate Private Equity Summit on October 14 in New York City, the International Council of Shopping Centers' 2009 U.S. Shopping Center Law Conference on October 21 in Phoenix, and the Trigild Lenders Conference on October 21 in San Diego. The attorneys will discuss topics including CMBS and special servicer transactions, distressed multifamily investments, fund investing in distressed real estate debt, current issues in bankruptcy and workouts, and tax issues that arise in difficult economic times.
