Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll Philadelphia Office Managing Partner Lynn E. Rzonca was named by Governor Ed Rendell as one of the Commonwealth's Best 50 Women in Business. The award, in its 14th year, is given by the Business Journals of Pennsylvania and the Commonwealth's Department of Community and Economic Development.

Ms. Rzonca was chosen by an independent panel of judges, which cited her strong leadership skills, consistent contributions to the field of intellectual property law, deep community involvement, and advocacy for women in business. She will receive her award at a reception at the Harrisburg Hilton on May 11, following an afternoon reception at the Governor's residence.

"I'm honored to join the ranks of Pennsylvania's Best 50 Women in Business. The talent, drive, and vision of our Commonwealth's women business leaders is inspiring," Ms. Rzonca said. "Together, we can continue to grow business in Pennsylvania and foster future women business leaders."

Ms. Rzonca is one of the few women managing partners of an Am Law 100 firm and is a member of the firm's Expanded Board. She is a member of the board of directors of the Juvenile Law Center and the Pennsylvania SPCA. She also is a member of the advisory board for the Children's Justice Clinic at the Rutgers University School of Law. Ms. Rzonca serves as a volunteer attorney with the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and the national Wills for Heroes program, which provides free legal services to emergency personnel and first responders.

"Some of the winners this year volunteer their time to show a new generation of lawyers and entrepreneurs the ins-and-outs of the business world," Gov. Rendell said. "Others, as part of their job, help protect the environment and ensure people's health and safety…Pennsylvania and the communities in which these award winners work are better because of them, and I encourage Pennsylvania's young people to follow their lead.”
