Matthew G. Summers, an associate in the Baltimore office of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, has been elected to the board of the Homeless Persons Representation Project, Inc.

The Homeless Persons Representation Project, Inc. provides direct legal counsel to those in need. Attorneys with the project provide assistance in overcoming barriers to affordable housing, employment, and public services.

Mr. Summers is an associate in the Litigation Department of Ballard and a member of the firm's Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Capital Recovery Group. Mr. Summers represents creditors, debtors, and parties-of-interest, including landlords, trustees, manufacturers, and officers and directors in all aspects of bankruptcy cases both in Maryland and nationally. He is an active member of the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association, Chesapeake Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. In June of this year, Mr. Summers received the 2008 Maryland Pro Bono Service Award by the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland for his pro bono representation of displaced residents in Elkton, MD.
