Roger D. Winston, managing partner of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP's office in Bethesda, Maryland, has been appointed chair-elect of the 30,000-member American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law.

Mr. Winston has been involved with the section for over 20 years and served as the Real Property Division vice-chair for the past two years. 

The Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law Section is a top nationwide forum for lawyers. The section focuses on the legal aspects of property use, trusts, estate planning, employee benefits, insurance, and probate and trust litigation. The Real Property, Trust, and Estate Law Section includes 85 substantive groups and committees that deal with emerging legal issues and provide the bar, legislatures, and section members with current information, education, as well as the development of new products for practitioners of real property, trust, and estate law.

Mr. Winston is co-partner-in-charge of the Planned Communities and Condominiums Group of Ballard Spahr. He is also a member of the Real Estate Department and the Higher Education Industry Group. Mr. Winston concentrates his practice on representing developers, builders, investors, and lenders in connection with the planning and development of many forms of common interest projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial and conversion condominiums, master planned and golf communities, senior housing communities, and traditional neighborhood developments, as well as many other variations of residential and nonresidential common interest developments.
