The Baltimore office of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP and its managing partner, Raymond G. Truitt, were honored by the Legal Aid Bureau at the Equal Justice Council's annual Recognition Breakfast on May 22, 2008.

Mr. Truitt was awarded the Champions for Justice Award for his leadership and support of the Equal Justice Council over the past year. The firm was honored with the Pacesetters Award for its support in enhancing the delivery of legal services to those in need.

"Ballard has a longstanding commitment to providing financial assistance, board leadership, and pro bono support to legal services providers and the individuals they serve," said Mary Gay Scanlon, executive director of Ballard's Pro Bono Program. "We are so pleased that Ray Truitt and Ballard's Baltimore office have been recognized for their contributions to equal justice in Maryland."

The Legal Aid Bureau, Inc. is a private, non-profit, multi-funded law firm providing free legal services to low-income people statewide. Legal Aid serves Baltimore City and Maryland's 23 counties from 13 office locations.

Mr. Truitt is managing partner of the firm's Baltimore office and a partner in the Real Estate Department. He concentrates his practice in commercial real estate financing, leasing, development, and restructuring.

Mr. Truitt serves on the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the U.S. Shopping Center Law Conference Program Committee and is a former member of the Advisory Board of the Georgetown University Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute. He is a member of the Advisory Board for and former adjunct faculty member of the Allan Berman Real Estate Institute of Johns Hopkins University and a former adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Mr. Truitt is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA), and the ICSC.
