Richard Thomson and Amy Schwartz have joined Ballard Spahr's Minneapolis office. Both are experienced banking and financial services attorneys who have defended commercial banks in counterfeit check and fraudulent wire transfers cases. Mr. Thomson said, "We are going to be able to offer some efficiencies [to our clients] because of Ballard Spahr's experience and depth in the financial services industry."

Together, Mr. Thomson and Ms. Schwartz have twice successfully defended Wells Fargo in the Eighth Circuit. Chris Willis, head of the firm's Consumer Financial Services Litigation group, said Mr. Thomson and Ms. Schwartz's combined experience "in deposit-related litigation and retail banking matters will allow us to help our financial institution clients with these types of matters across our national footprint."
