GoFundMe announced that Johnny Bobbitt will receive the full funds that were raised for him in November. Kate McClure and Mark D’Amico started a GoFundMe fundraiser for Mr. Bobbitt after Mr. Bobbitt (who was living under an I-95 ramp) spent his last $20 to help Ms. McClure when had run out of gas.

Mr. Bobbitt initially did not receive the proceeds from the fundraiser due to questions of the charitable campaigns legitimacy.

This particular campaign was backed by GoFundMe Guarantee, which protects donors and beneficiaries in the event that funds are misused. Ballard Spahr Partner Stephen Stigall said “victims are more likely to get compensated if criminal charges are filed.”
