Some California Democrats are calling for a boycott of In N Out after it was recently reported that the burger chain donated $25,000 to the California Republican Party.

Ballard Spahr Partner Joseph Kanefield said that historically companies are usually advised to stay away from politics in order to not run the risk of alienating customers. "Whether they were red or blue, corporations used to stay out of politics, but we see more and more corporate involvement these days," said Kanefield.

"As a citizen if you want to disagree with a corporation's politics, then you certainly have a right to take your business elsewhere," adds Kanefield.
