New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday signed into law a bill aimed at promoting equal pay for workers regardless of race or gender, which supporters praised as a way to reduce the pay gap while others warned the law is vague and a "litigation magnet."

Employment attorney Denise M. Keyser, a partner at Ballard Spahr LLP, told Law360 the legislation might indeed be the most far-reaching in the country but that the ultimate effects were hard to predict because "it's hard to know how it's going to be applied."
