Tom Geddes looks around Baltimore and says he sees the city's transportation options as being "disconnected."

It can often be hard for workers to get from their homes to their offices based on public transportation alone. But through his and Sagamore Ventures' new plans for the Water Taxi, he's hoping to bridge a lot of those gaps and make the Water Taxi a viable, everyday option for commuters.

Geddes is the CEO of Plank Industries, the private firm of Under Armour (NYSE: UA) CEO Kevin Plank. Sagamore Ventures, one of the arms of Plank Industries, said Tuesday it was buying Harbor Boating Inc., the company that operates the Water Taxi. Geddes declined to disclose the purchase price.

When talks between Sagamore and Harbor Boating started about 18 months ago, Geddes said it was Plank who was driving the discussions, with a grand plan in mind to expand the Water Taxi to reach more of the city.
