In a 4-1 vote, the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors (BOS) handed part of County Assessor Pamela Pearsall's office back to her, which they took away eight months ago by transferring 10 employees to a newly created Geographic Information System (GIS) department.

Attorney Joseph Kanefield, with Ballard Spahr LLP in Phoenix, will continue to work with Pearsall and the county attorney to "repair damages" to the assessor's office caused by eight months without staff and equipment to do the assessor's job as mandated by Arizona statute. Kanefield said there was clearly a conflict with the county attorney representing both the assessor's office and the board, which is why he was hired.
