Ballard Spahr LLP has boosted its privacy and data security team and government investigations practice by adding a former federal prosecutor with experience dealing with technology-assisted crimes ranging from data breaches and intellectual property theft to tax fraud and cyberstalking, the firm announced Monday.

Edward J. McAndrew will leave his post as a national security cyber specialist and cybercrime coordinator in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware, a position that he has held since 2008, to join Ballard Spahr as a partner. He will split his time among the firm’s Delaware, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., offices, according to the firm.
