Ballard Spahr was honored by the Nationalities Service Center (NSC) with its Margaret Harris Award, presented last week at NSC’s signature Global Tastes Event, in recognition of the firm’s support of organization’s work with immigrants and refugees.

Ballard Spahr has provided pro bono counsel to NSC on a range of organizational issues for the past decade. Most recently, Shannon D. Farmer and Meredith C. Swartz led a team of Ballard Spahr lawyers in successfully defending a discrimination claim, offering tactical guidance and human resources risk management training, as well as drafting independent contractor agreements and employment contracts. Ballard Spahr lawyers also represent asylees and refugees in individual cases referred by the NSC.
